Who do we reflect?
We have often heard people say that we become what we eat. Our body becomes what we put into it. It is quite true, not just what we eat, but who we associate with or for the fact who we follow. Our lifestyle reflects the one who we follow. Our daily habits, our behavior, our relationships, everything that we do says a lot about who we follow. Jesus’ popular statement in Luke 9:23, about “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” speaks volumes on how the lives of His followers must be. Following Jesus is about denying oneself. And It must be reflected in our lifestyle.
Oftentimes, we boldly profess that we are the followers of Jesus, but our lifestyle is far from what a follower of Christ must have. We give so much emphasis on ourselves, our needs, our reputation, our rights that we forget that Jesus has called us to deny ourselves. If we are the true followers of Christ, our lives must exhibit Jesus’ sacrificial lifestyle. His path was one of self-denial and suffering, His path was one of self-denial and suffering, Let us think about who do we follow and what does our lifestyle reflect?
